My interest in writing this blog lies in my endless worshiping of life. I'd like to think my approach is much like my old hound dog's behavior when he used to gleefully drive his shoulder into a warm cow pie. He performed this gesture with gusto, with fascination and with a profound delight at having found the purpose in life. Revolution Watch--Changes

Headlines are telling. Of all the headlines shown, the most interesting to me is the one mentioning that the Train business is expanding. Many writers feel that the future mode of travel will be heavily dependent on rail, and low and behold what is the pattern here.

The auto sales are down, the post office is losing ground (Internet competition)and loss of billions, shops are closing and jobs are lost. It would seem that rail manufacturing, and all things associated might be the future for jobs and opportunity. Warren Buffet just purchased a major position in Burlington Northern. Wonder why!

Today, I read a piece that referred to this era as the Age of Decline. Not to heartening. Then I guess if we have a Sustainable Revolution, we have to be sustainable. I have a feeling China building and bringing on line 2 new coal fired electric plants every week is not sustainable. Then too, having 82 million more people on the earth every year is not that desirable either. Oh, I forgot the 15 million news cars to be sold in China this year---to folks who last years road bikes. Well, what can ya say?

Revolution Watch

Interestingly, we are stepping into a revolution, the Sustainable Revolution. This is a situation where we must quickly move away from our ways of the past into lifestyle that can be maintained continually and indefinitely. This movement is based on the simple position that it is mathematically impossible to have exponential growth in a finite world.

Unfortunately, there are two groups of individuals that think it is possible to expand both population and economies exponentially indefinitely. One is the complete mad man and the other is the economist. Both frequently hold sway over our lives.

I will be including a section in my blog called Revolution Watch that will list some of the events and situations occurring that may indicate how the revolution is going. There will be highs and lows, of course, but this is history at its finest.

In our best moments as members of a thinking and aware species, we can be quite formidable, even if we might want to be - much more - humble about that. In the rest of our moments, though, we are blindly chasing the same urges as yeast or amoeba, which of pure physical necessity feed into never-ending cycles of growth and collapse.

Yeast don't have options, or a choice. Isaac Newton et al showed us that we do have. So what will it be? Are we going to chase eternal growth mirages, long discarded by physics? Or are we going to pause and think about it? You wouldn't perhaps know it to look at us, but we can.
